General Summary
Affords support to physicians by assisting with examinations and procedures for patients with cardiac health conditions. Facilitates patient care and customer service goals through efficient coordination of patient flow, lab work, and nurse visits.
Principal Job Functions

- Performs nursing and other patient care activities to ensure patient physical and psychological well-being.
- Screens patients for relevant information to update the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Room patients, gather patient history and vital signs, perform medication reconciliation, and document in the EHR.
- Registers patients and ensures timely, complete information in the EHR and charts.
- Coordinates patient care and follow-up with providers to meet quality patient care and customer service goals.
- Maintains exam rooms in a clean and well-stocked state with necessary equipment and supplies.
- Supports physicians during examinations and performs electrocardiograms.
- Administers medication as directed, observes patient reactions, and reports findings to the provider.
- Provides education to patients and their families regarding diagnostic procedures, medications, post-treatment instructions, nutrition, and wellness.
- Ensures appropriateness of diagnostic tests and procedures to ensure reimbursement.
- Handles pre-authorizations, release of information requests, FMLA certifications, and other patient-related tasks.
- Answers and routes incoming patient treatment-related phone calls while maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Manages work hours, supplies, and clinical costs within fiscal responsibility and budget constraints.
- Attends meetings and participates in committees as assigned.
- Assists providers at both the main site and outreach clinics.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and affiliations.
- Participates in meetings, committees, and department projects as assigned.
- Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.
