Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care, including administering medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards
- Monitor and document student health status, including vital signs and response to treatment
- Conduct sick calls and respond to medical needs, injuries, and emergencies
- Participate in student admissions, including initial health assessments
- Medication & Treatment Management: Prepare, administer, and document medications in compliance with policy and scope of practice
- Maintain accurate medication records and oversee controlled substance inventory
- Absorb and communicate with physicians, specialists, families, and internal teams regarding student care
- Obtain and document physician orders, lab work, and diagnostic results
- Refer students for additional medical services as needed
- Health Education & Support: Educate students, staff, and families on health conditions, treatments, and wellness practices
- Support the development of individualized student health education plans
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
- Conduct audits of medication administration records
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to all policies and procedures
- Collaboration & Team Participation: Work collaboratively with nursing staff, clinical teams, and school personnel
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and care planning sessions
- Support staff training, orientation, and ongoing education initiatives
Qualifications
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–3 years of nursing experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
