LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

Job Description

Provides age-appropriate nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or designated provider, applying basic knowledge of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to meet the needs of individuals and groups.

Collections and monitors patient data, including packaging and obtaining specimens and labs, contributing to assessments and promptly communicates abnormal findings or changes in condition to the appropriate provider.

Participates in developing and implementing patient care and discharge plans under RN direction, delivers nursing care and treatments as ordered, and assists with personal care and activities of daily living to maintain hygiene and nutrition.

Safely administers prescribed medications, injections, and treatments while monitoring for adverse reactions, and ensures all providers' orders are followed for patient treatment.

Provides education to patients, families, and caregivers regarding health, treatments, and self-care. Documents all aspects of patient care in accordance with hospital policies and nursing care standards.

Adheres to regulatory standards and Akron Children's Hospital (ACH) policies, maintains a safe and clean environment, and reports safety concerns as appropriate.

Works collaboratively as a member of the patient care team, engages in ongoing education and professional development, and performs additional duties to support efficient operations and quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of licensed practical nursing.
• Current, valid LPN license in the state of Ohio.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Additional certifications (e.g., PEARS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, NRP) may be required based on assignment or department/unit.
• Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience is preferred.
• No years of supervisory experience required.
