Licensed Practical Nurse

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care, including administering medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards
  • Monitor and document student health status, including vital signs and response to treatment
  • Conduct sick calls and respond to medical needs, injuries, and emergencies
  • Participate in student admissions, including initial health assessments
  • Medication & Treatment Management: Prepare, administer, and document medications in compliance with policy and scope of practice
  • Maintain accurate medication records and oversee controlled substance inventory
  • Absorb and communicate with physicians, specialists, families, and internal teams regarding student care
  • Obtain and document physician orders, lab work, and diagnostic results
  • Refer students for additional medical services as needed
  • Health Education & Support: Educate students, staff, and families on health conditions, treatments, and wellness practices
  • Support the development of individualized student health education plans
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain accurate and timely documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Conduct audits of medication administration records
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to all policies and procedures
  • Collaboration & Team Participation: Work collaboratively with nursing staff, clinical teams, and school personnel
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and care planning sessions
  • Support staff training, orientation, and ongoing education initiatives

Requirements

  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
