Licensed Practical Nurse
About the role
The School Based Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will provide patient care to school-aged patients served at our three School Clinics, the mobile unit, and the main clinic. The role involves assessing patient needs, providing direct patient care, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure patients receive comprehensive care.
Responsibilities
- Achieve patient care goals by assessing patient needs, answering questions, and providing assistance and education.
- Administer prescribed medications and start intravenous fluids, documenting times and amounts in patient charts.
- Work as part of a healthcare team to assess patient needs, plan and modify care, and implement interventions.
- Document care provided in electronic medical records according to documentation standards.
- Identify and refer clients to appropriate community resources and programs, enhancing working relationships with other community agencies and referral sources.
- Review patient medical records regularly and follow up with outside care providers, agencies, and community service providers to ensure appropriate assistance.
- Utilize an electronic medical record to retrieve and update patient information, ensuring accurate and appropriate documentation.
- Provide crisis assistance as necessary, accessing appropriate Federal, State, County, and local programs, community service providers, and agencies, and collaborating with others for the efficient and safe delivery of shots.
- Manage vaccine storage and handling, providing patient education about immunizations, and adhering to public health protocols.
- Recognize and educate staff on the importance of managing patient care as a team effort involving various healthcare professionals.
- Attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions to stay current on principles, practices, and new developments in assigned work areas.
- Communicate and coordinate regularly with appropriate others to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interagency operations and activities.
- Use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions.
- Ensure program compliance guidelines, contract/grant requirements, and/or accreditation standards are met.
- Ensure program and agency policies and procedures are being followed.
- Aid in the development of quality care and patient/client satisfaction.
- Support quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements
Completion of a State-accredited Licensed Practical Nursing Program, 3 to 5 years of patient care and nursing experience, and a valid State of Montana Driver's License are required. Certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) for Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.

- Licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of Montana and holds an unrestricted license.

Benefits
Commensurate with experience.
Pay
$28.70 to $39.63 hourly; depending on number of years of transferrable experience and internal equity.
Schedule
Monday-Friday; 8am-5pm.
