Open to all qualified job seekers. Multiple LPN vacancies at Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF)-Oak Park Heights. Both part-time (minimum 64 hours per two-week pay period) and full-time positions available on rotating day/evening shifts, including weekends and holidays as assigned.

About the role

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assists practitioners and Registered Nurses in delivering health care to incarcerated individuals within a correctional facility.

Responsibilities

  • Perform “rooming” tasks for practitioner examinations: obtain and document vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration), weight, and patient complaints.
  • Conduct phlebotomy procedures: collect blood and urine samples and perform other practitioner-ordered tests.
  • Operate Blood Pressure Clinic and other chronic-care clinics for incarcerated individuals.
  • Administer medications as prescribed by the practitioner.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved school of nursing.
  • Current, unrestricted Minnesota Practical Nurse license.
  • Computer proficiency sufficient for electronic charting, email, and basic functions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on clinical nursing experience in hospitals, long-term care, or clinic settings.
  • Nursing experience in correctional or secured environments.
  • Experience in specialized clinical areas such as gender-specific care, geriatrics, juvenile health, medical/surgical units, or behavioral health.

Physical Requirements

  • Pre-placement physical components may include tuberculosis screening and/or respirator clearance.
  • Selected finalist must review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA).

Additional Requirements

  • Top candidate(s) will undergo a criminal-history check, including verification of sentencing/restitution compliance, probation status, and offender associations.
  • Employment history, reference checks, and review of job performance/discipline records may be conducted.
  • New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the Department of Corrections does not sponsor work visas.

Pay

$28.01 – $35.83 per hour ($58,484 – $74,813 annually).
