About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse will perform a variety of duties including caring for and educating patients, resolving issues from the previous shift, ensuring compliance with infection control, managing medication, and coordinating admission workflows.
Responsibilities
- Resolve pending issues from the previous shift, such as missed or incomplete labs or treatments, incomplete admissions or discharges, missing data for continuity of care
- Perform compliance audits related to infection control, including checking glucometer, refrigerator, sharps containers, laboratory cleanliness, pests in facility, hand washing, and flu campaign
- Manage medication storage, returns, destruction, and communication with the pharmacy to resolve issues
- Track lab orders, outside consults, and medical transfers
- Coordinate Level of Care transfers in AVATAR
- Perform administrative tasks like scanning documents into AVATAR, assisting with the work schedule, and helping BHT's with observation sheets
- Conduct admission and discharge audits to ensure proper completion of nursing procedures
- Participate in regular department meetings and staff meetings
- Collaborate with the treatment team to incorporate medical issues into treatment planning
- Communicate effectively with other staff members and demonstrate teamwork skills
- Show flexibility and adaptability in response to changing situations
- Accept and utilize supervision
- Demonstrate objectivity and maturity under stress
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification in Practical Nursing or equivalent as per state law
- Minimum two years' experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), preferably in a behavioral health setting
- Licensed to practice in the State of licensure, active and in good standing required
