Licensed Practical Nurse 2

The Department of Corrections seeks Licensed Practical Nurses to provide nursing care at Ely State Prison. LPNs will collect and document medical conditions, initiate emergency care, maintain nursing records and physicians' orders, and relay shift information to ensure quality of care. You will work directly with inmates, setting care priorities and adapting to emergencies. Responsibilities include carrying out nursing care assignments, administering medications, monitoring controlled substances, and observing patients for medication side effects and allergic reactions. You will participate in patient education to promote independence when possible. Additional duties include assessing patient health status through observation and documentation, assisting with therapeutic procedures, providing emergency medical treatment such as CPR and first aid, preparing and maintaining medical treatment rooms, providing health education to patients and families, assisting with activities of daily living, and delegating appropriate duties to auxiliary personnel. You will maintain safety and well-being using the least restrictive interventions for patients who may be hostile and combative, complete incident reports, and perform related duties as assigned.
