About the role
Warby Parker is seeking a highly skilled Optical Manager to join our growing in-house Optical team. In this role, you'll use your professional expertise to create incredible customer experiences, whether assisting longtime Warby Parker fans or first-time wearers. You'll lead a team of Opticians, coach them to uphold exceptional service standards, and ensure flawless execution of optical duties.
Responsibilities
Optical duties
- Work directly with customers to meet all their eyewear needs
- Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear with flawless accuracy
- Ensure finished eyewear meets Warby Parker’s optical standards and customer requirements
- Explain prescription terminology and product offerings in an accessible way
Leadership responsibilities
- Manage a team of Opticians by providing feedback, leading development conversations, and modeling best practices on the sales floor
- Uphold exceptional service standards and implement retail programs to increase customer loyalty and engagement
- Report to the Store Leader, collaborate on staffing needs, and oversee Optician Apprentice Program participants
- Stay current with HR policies to foster a productive, safe, and engaging work environment
- Support general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations
Requirements
- Licensed dispensing optician in states requiring a license (or ABO-certified in non-licensing states)
- 2+ years of experience in a management position
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills, with a focus on driving optical metrics and adhering to strict standards
- High professionalism and open-mindedness in decision-making
- Passion for the eyewear and retail industries
- Clear and effective communication, especially in breaking down technical terms for customers
- Commitment to exceeding customer and teammate expectations
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Not on the Office of Inspector General’s List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)

Pay
Warby Parker offers a comprehensive compensation package, including a competitive base salary/hourly rate and variable compensation for eligible employees. The range listed is a good-faith estimate at the time of posting, with final compensation determined by qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market data. Non-exempt employees are eligible for overtime pay if required to work more than 40 hours in a workweek.
