About the role
Warby Parker is seeking a highly skilled Optical Manager to join our expanding in-house Optical team. This role involves creating exceptional customer experiences and managing a team of Opticians.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to meet all their eyewear needs
- Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, ensuring flawless accuracy
- Check that finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements
- Use expertise to explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers
- Manage a team of Opticians, providing feedback, conducting development conversations, and setting a positive example
- Uphold exceptional service standards and implement retail experience programs to increase customer loyalty and engagement
- Report to the Store Leader, overseeing Optician Apprentice Program participants and anticipating staffing needs
- Stay updated on HR policies and procedures to maintain a productive, safe work environment and enhance employee engagement
- Support general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations
Requirements
- A licensed dispensing optician in states requiring a license, or an ABO-certified optician in non-licensing states with 2+ years of management experience
- A strong leader and mentor who models behavior, drives optical metrics, and adheres to strict optical standards
- Able to operate with professionalism and open-mindedness when making decisions on behalf of the team
- A passionate individual with a deep understanding of the eyewear and retail industries
- A clear and effective communicator who can simplify technical terms for customers
- Dedicated to exceeding expectations for both customers and teammates
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing tasks and responsibilities for themselves and their team
- A person who takes their work seriously but not themselves
- Not on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)
