About the role
Warby Parker is seeking a highly skilled Optical Manager to join our expanding in-house Optical team. This role involves creating exceptional customer experiences and managing a team of Opticians.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to address all their eyewear needs
- Take and record measurements, adjust, and fit eyewear with precision
- Ensure finished eyewear meets our optical standards and customer requirements
- Explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers
- Manage a team of Opticians, providing feedback, conducting development conversations, and setting a positive example
- Uphold exceptional service standards and implement retail experience programs to enhance customer loyalty and engagement
- Report to the Store Leader and collaborate on staffing needs and the Optician Apprentice Program
- Stay updated on HR policies and procedures to maintain a productive, safe work environment and engage employees
- Support general store systems, inventory databases, and business operations
Requirements
- A licensed dispensing optician in states requiring a license, or an ABO-certified optician in non-licensing states with 2+ years of management experience
- A strong leader and mentor who drives optical metrics and adheres to strict optical standards
- Able to operate with professionalism and open-mindedness when making decisions on behalf of the team
- A passion for the eyewear and retail industries, and ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively
- Dedicated to exceeding customer expectations and team member satisfaction
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing tasks and responsibilities
- Someone who takes their work seriously but not themselves
- Not on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)
Qualifications
- A degree in Optometry or related field preferred
- Experience in a managerial role within the optical industry
- Knowledge of optical equipment and technology
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to a fast-paced environment
