About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-quality massage and other services as skills and license permit, using specified draping techniques and treatment protocols. Must be proficient in all massage techniques within the spa scope of practice within the first 30 days.
  • Uses proactive sales techniques, recommending and demonstrating retail products for each guest.
  • Recognizes guests and peers in a genuinely warm and friendly manner.
  • Arrives to work on time and groomed to the required standard; consistently begins and ends services on time.
  • Maintains treatment room supplies, requesting inventory as needed.
  • Ensures cleanliness and neatness of front-of-house and back-of-house areas, including assisting with cleaning, linen distribution, and overall tidiness.
  • Attends and participates in mandatory department trainings and meetings.
  • Reports maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assists with event planning, execution, and special promotions, particularly on massage-specific topics.
  • Helps design treatment protocols.
  • Completes retail and backbar inventories as needed.
  • Achieves high-level proficiency with Book4time booking software and assists with trainings and administrative maintenance.
  • Assists with team scheduling and attendance compliance.
  • Coordinates food and beverage services for the Spa.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and guest information.
  • Provides 25 to 75-minute massages and body treatments to clients by appointment.
  • Guides clients through service offerings and determines which massages best suit their needs.
  • Annotates detailed intake forms for each client.
  • Advises on stretching, strengthening, and relaxation methods.
  • Suggests future appointments and regimes.
  • Listens to clients during appointments and adjusts technique to desired pressure.
  • Performs 5-6 treatments per day.
  • Never diagnoses a client but suggests seeing a professional if something seems abnormal or contraindicating.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn new software.
  • High level of proficiency in massage therapy.
  • Proficiency in additional modalities such as East Asian therapies, prenatal, and oncology therapies.
  • Current Tennessee Massage Therapy License, active and in good standing.
  • Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of onboarding process, including background screening and pre-employment drug screening.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

  • Lifting and Carrying: May require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs. utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting.
  • Mobility: May require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing, and/or walking for the duration of the shift, up to 13 hours. May also require traveling to various areas on property, including changes in terrain, stairs, and uneven surfaces.
  • Repetitive Movements: May require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms, or other body parts.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat. May be required to work indoors and outdoors.
  • Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: Strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, pay attention to detail, and communicate effectively using approved methods.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the job, including sitting, standing, and maneuvering the body for long periods.

Pay

Competitive hourly wage plus tips.
