About the role

A Creative Arts Therapist holds a Master’s Degree in art, music, drama, or dance therapy. This role provides a variety of therapeutic services to a diverse population using art, music, movement and/or drama to enhance emotional and mental wellbeing. As part of the therapeutic services team, the Creative Arts Therapist is responsible for assessment, treatment planning, and documentation for assigned clients within an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and contribute to the development of treatment plans related to the use of creative arts and therapeutic rehabilitation services.
• Demonstrate competency in the use of materials and modalities to facilitate self-expression, healing, and functional enhancement.
• Provide professional competency in both group and individual therapies.
• Assist with department Performance Improvement activities.
• Identify areas of needed training and development specific to the Creative Arts practice.
• Demonstrate awareness of evidence-based practices in creative arts and related fields.
• Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Creative Arts Therapy
• New York State license required or limited permit
• Completed an internship in a behavioral health setting, or previous work experience in a behavioral health setting
