Licensed Creative Art Therapist - LCAT
About the role
A Creative Arts Therapist holds a Master’s Degree in art, music, drama, or dance therapy and provides therapeutic services to a diverse population using art, music, movement and/or drama to enhance emotional and mental wellbeing. As a member of the therapeutic services team, the Creative Arts Therapist conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, and documents client progress in collaboration with an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Responsibilities
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and contribute to the development of treatment plans focused on creative arts and therapeutic rehabilitation services.
- Demonstrate competency in using materials and modalities to facilitate self-expression, healing, and functional improvement.
- Provide professional competency in both group and individual therapies.
- Assist with department Performance Improvement activities.
- Identify areas of needed training and development specific to the Creative Arts practice.
- Demonstrate awareness of evidence-based practices in creative arts and related fields.
- Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Creative Arts Therapy.
- New York State license required or limited permit.
- Completed an internship in a behavioral health setting or previous work experience in a behavioral health setting.
