Licensed Clinician (1099)
About the role
RLC provides mental health outpatient therapy in a private practice setting, utilizing in-office and telehealth services. We work with a combination of Medicaid-funded insurances, private insurances, and private pay. Real Life Counseling offers executive and administrative services to our team of Independent Clinicians, allowing counselors to focus on counseling without the distractions of running a business, such as insurance billing or administrative procedures.
As an Incident to Billing (ITB) provider, you work under the supervision of a fully licensed and credentialed clinician. RLC currently contracts providers who can offer in-person or a mix of in-person and telehealth sessions.
Compensation structure
- 40% fee — start right away (ITB team): RLC charges a 40% fee on all collected revenue from billable sessions for clinicians seeking to start immediately on our Incident to Billing team. This fee includes business formation support and all credentialing costs. Contractors sign a 1-year contract to remain in this fee structure. After the first year and full credentialing, this role moves into the capped-amount tiers below. The standard office fee is waived for this tier.
- 40% fee, capped at $4,300: For independent contractors who prefer to wait for credentialing before seeing clients and desire to use RLC office space. This tier does not cover initial credentialing or business formation costs.
- 35% fee, capped at $3,800: For independent contractors who prefer to wait for credentialing and provide telehealth-only services without using RLC office space. This tier does not cover initial credentialing or business formation costs. The rate can be adjusted to 40% if the clinician later uses office space.
Average reimbursement rates depend on clinician private pay rates and insurance allowable rates, typically ranging between $107–$175 per completed and billable session.
