Library Assistant (PT)

Part-time position located in Kaw City, OK.

Qualifications

• Prefer an Associate Degree or certificate in Library Technology; high school diploma or GED and/or one (1) year related office and/or administrative experience including clerical and computer skills in a Windows environment.
• Relevant education, training, or experience may substitute.
• Proficient in word processing (MS Word) and spreadsheets (MS Excel).
• Able to set priorities, organize, coordinate work efficiently, and establish good personal relations with other workers and the public.
• Must pass a background check and drug test, maintain such status, possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, and continue to be insurable.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative, clerical, and support services to the Kaw Nation Learning Center, its staff, and patrons.
• Perform standard daily library duties, including preparation and organization of library materials and periodicals.
• Maintain proper records for loaned materials, sort and shelve materials, and inspect and repair damaged materials.
• Assist and direct library patrons with basic questions, reference materials, and computer-assisted research.
• Answer and manage incoming telephone calls, respond to inquiries, and refer requests as appropriate.
• Administer library programs, policies, and procedures, handle inter-library loan requests, prepare invoices, and perform routine coding and cataloging of library materials.
• Retrieve information from computer databases and manage the loan and collection of books, periodicals, videotapes, and other materials.
