Librarian - Interlibrary Loan

About the role

The University of South Dakota invites applications for an Interlibrary Loan Librarian (Civil Service Librarian level) based at the University Libraries’ I.D. Weeks Library in Vermillion, South Dakota. This position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the interlibrary loan department and will manage and process electronic course reserves. Duties will also support the operations of the circulation desk in ID Weeks Library and the interlibrary loan operations of the Wegner Health Sciences Library.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the interlibrary loan department

Requirements

• Experience and comfort working with computers and office software/technologies
• Detail-oriented and well organized
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Flexible and capable of learning new tasks in a changing environment
• Willing to learn new concepts and technologies
• Able to work independently or in groups
• Commitment to helping others by providing customer service in a professional manner

Qualifications

• Experience with interlibrary loan processing
• Familiarity with copyright law as it applies to electronic course reserves in an academic library
• Experience working with the diversity of colleagues, staff, faculty and students at the University of South Dakota

Skills

• Knowledge of interlibrary loan systems and processes
• Understanding of copyright law and its application to electronic course reserves
• Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, faculty and students
