About the role

This is a posting to gather a pool of qualified applications for possible positions in the MSU Library. We seek librarians and other professionals on an as-needed basis for work in a variety of areas, including: Reference and instruction, Instructional Technology and/or Instructional Design, Scholarly communication, Collection development, Digital initiatives, Archives and Special Collections cataloging and metadata, Special projects.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree from an ALA accredited graduate program or terminal graduate degree in a field appropriate to the position.
  • Previous relevant experience in an academic environment.
  • Previous experience working in an instruction or public services role in a college or university.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills across a range of audiences, including students, faculty, library colleagues, and the professional community.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate to and establish rapport with a college student population.
  • Exercise good judgment and self-motivation.
  • Commitment to student success.
  • Commitment to quality teaching.
  • An appreciation of diverse constituencies and add intellectual diversity to the department.
  • Dedication to supporting and enhancing Montana State University’s initiative for diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

Skills

  • Strong interest in student success.
  • Ability to work at computer terminals for at least 3-4 hours a day.
  • Flexibility in schedules to meet occasional vacation and sick leave demands of the department.
