Job Description And Duties

The mission of the CalEPA Library is to assist the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) staff in accomplishing their goals through timely access to the best scientific information, including literature searching capability and access to scientific databases, full texts of journal articles, and scientific textbooks. Timely access includes online access to full articles at staff’s desktops, or retrieval and delivery of full articles or texts from other sources, including inter-library lending.

  • Perform professional librarian functions in the CalEPA Library including the Law and Science Libraries serving staff attorneys, scientists and engineers.
  • Develop and recommend a workplan to implement the strategic plan objectives.
  • Manage the daily operations of the Library including interacting with staff; managing vendor agreements; processing new materials to update the library collection; and provide literature searches and research support to staff when requested.
  • Provide monthly research updates for the division.
  • Perform librarian functions including support for collection development and maintenance; acquisitions; online services; training classes and demonstrations; document retrieval; inter-library loan services; and recommending changes to improve the collection and services of the Libraries.
