This role supports students as they transition into college life, acting as a guide, advocate, and mentor. The Activity Coordinator helps students navigate campus, achieve academic and community engagement goals, and build meaningful social connections to foster independence and confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead weekly social events or activities to promote community building, coordinating with other LibertyLIFE staff.
  • Assist students in setting and meeting community engagement goals aligned with their interests.
  • Support students in navigating campus, especially during the first few weeks of the semester (e.g., mastering bus routes, locating classrooms, finding dining halls).
  • Help coordinate volunteers who plan activities for LibertyLIFE students.
  • Attend mandatory weekly progress meetings with the LibertyLIFE Program Coordinator to share updates, discuss challenges, and celebrate student milestones.
  • Write a brief weekly report on student progress and planned activities.
  • Strictly adhere to Liberty University policies and represent the University in an exemplary manner.
  • Work effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering Liberty University’s Christian mission of Training Champions for Christ.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative and the ability to work proactively.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience working with students with disabilities.

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, conveying clear and well-articulated information.
  • Proficiency in English to understand, speak, and write professionally.
  • Public communication skills that allow for professional representation of Liberty University.
  • Strong organizational and computer skills.
  • Problem-solving ability to analyze information, reason intuitively, and apply judgment to routine and complex situations.

Physical and Sensory Abilities

  • May be required to travel to local events and activities in the Lynchburg area.
  • May be required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak effectively for oral communication.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about campus.
  • Must handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop as needed.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

Working Conditions

  • Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled, well-lit, moderate-noise environment.
  • Occasional facilitation of outdoor events may be required.

Driving Requirements

If travel is required, the use of a personal or Liberty University vehicle may be necessary. Proof of a valid driver’s license, acceptable DMV record, Liberty University Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required.

Schedule

Approximately 20 hours per week, part-time and onsite.

Pay

Compensation ranges from $15.38 to $18.27 per hour, determined by qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, University needs, and external market conditions. Market benchmarks and internal equity may also be considered.
