About the role

Plans, organizes, and implements activity programs tailored to meet the needs, capabilities, and interests of individual patients and groups.

Ensures compliance with all safety and infection control policies to prevent harm or injury to patients, employees, or self.

Manages department supplies, expenses, and inventory to ensure the availability of necessary materials and equipment.

Collaborates closely with the treatment team to assess and meet patient needs through the delivery of multi-disciplinary services.

Makes adjustments to therapy programs based on effectiveness to enhance patient engagement and therapeutic outcomes.

Serves as a resource and educator for patients, families, and staff regarding activity therapy and its benefits.

Documents patient progress and program outcomes accurately and timely in accordance with organizational standards.

Engages in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in activity therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Extends the healing ministry of Christ by providing activity therapy services.
  • Works in a modern, well-equipped environment.
  • May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and aggressive/violent outbursts.
  • Requires compliance with safety and infection control policies.
  • Engages in continuous professional development.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreation or Activity Therapy field.
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience in activity therapy field, preferably in a hospital-psychiatric setting.
  • Skills: Excellent communications and human relations skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Movement of equipment, lifting up to 25 pounds, stoop, bend, reach and stand.

Qualifications

  • Licenses and Certifications: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS).
  • NonViolent Crisis Intervention Program.

Skills

  • Knowledge of activity therapy principles and techniques.
  • Ability to develop and implement activity programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using various medical equipment and technology.
