About the role

The Leverhulme Trust invites applications for a Senior Grants Officer to join its grants management team. This is a full-time, permanent position based in London. The Trust awards approximately £100 million annually in research funding across all academic disciplines, and the postholder will play a key role in managing the assessment and award process for a portfolio of research grants.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end grants process for a designated portfolio, including eligibility checks, peer review coordination, and committee support.
  • Liaise with applicants, referees, and academic committee members to ensure timely and efficient grant assessment.
  • Prepare detailed grant assessment reports and recommendations for Trust committees.
  • Maintain accurate records in the grants management database and ensure compliance with Trust policies.
  • Contribute to the development of grant schemes and operational improvements.
  • Provide administrative support for Trust committees, including minute-taking and follow-up actions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in grants administration, research funding, or a related field (e.g., higher education, charity, or public sector).
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small, busy team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using databases or CRM systems.

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (any discipline).
  • Experience in a research or academic environment is desirable but not essential.
