About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for newly qualified or early career GPs to develop confidence, capability and specialist interest experience while contributing to safe, effective and high-quality primary care services across NHS Highland.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary care medical services to patients of the host practice and the Out of Hours Service, working collaboratively with practice teams, clinical mentors, placement leads and NHS Highland colleagues.
  • Contribute to the development of specialist interest experience through agreed specialty exposure.

Requirements

  • MB ChB and General Practice Vocational/Specialty Training Certificate
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise and inclusion on the GMC GP Register
  • Eligibility for inclusion in the Primary Care Performers List for NHS Highland
  • Experience of general practice care of patients and an understanding of healthcare issues common in remote and rural environments
  • Strong team working, interpersonal, organisational and time management skills

Qualifications

  • Desirable experience includes BASICS training, relevant postgraduate qualifications or diplomas, experience or interest in minor surgery, family planning, palliative care, child health, quality improvement, medical education, and familiarity with systems such as Vision, Docman, Near Me, Adastra and SCI Store/SCI Gateway.

Pay

The salary range for this role is £102,168 to £115,167 per annum.

Schedule

The post is fixed term for 12–24 months, dependent on agreed placement. It is part-time with average session commitments including in-hours general practice, out of hours general practice, specialist interest activity and professional development time.
