About the Role

As a Technician II at Easy Ice, you’ll be a vital member of our service team, ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of commercial ice machines through installation, cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting. This dynamic, customer-facing role is ideal for a creative, resourceful, and high-energy individual who thrives in service-oriented environments. You’ll focus on maximizing equipment lifespan, minimizing service calls, and enhancing customer satisfaction while fostering positive relationships with clients across restaurants, bars, hospitals, hotels, and other businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional on-site service and support, building positive relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction with ice machine performance.
  • Perform thorough installation, repair, maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting of ice machines to improve longevity and reduce service calls or emergency ice purchases.
  • Lead installations, exceeding customer expectations with accurate, timely, and efficient equipment setup.
  • Accurately diagnose and resolve technical issues on the first visit to minimize customer downtime.
  • Train and mentor less experienced technicians as needed.
  • Achieve or exceed performance metrics related to service response times, resolution rates, and customer feedback.
  • Manage on-site tasks, including repairs, maintenance, and testing, while adhering to Easy Ice standard operating procedures.
  • Document all service activities through photos, forms, reports, and logs to maintain clear records.
  • Ensure proper truck stock to avoid unnecessary return trips and service delays.
  • Facilitate ice pickup/delivery for service calls and process customer payments as needed.
  • Maintain company vehicles, including cleanliness and organization, and remove all ice/trash at the end of each shift.
  • Assist in equipment shutdowns or removals when necessary.
  • Uphold a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shop by following safety protocols.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in work schedules, including rotating on-call shifts, to adapt to operational demands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical training preferred.
  • 1+ year of experience diagnosing and repairing commercial equipment (e.g., refrigeration, electrical, HVAC, or ice machines).
  • EPA 2 Certification.
  • Working knowledge of mobile tools and applications.
  • Proficiency in volt meter operations.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule, including rotating on-call shifts.
  • Strong communication skills for customer and team interactions.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance and repairs.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and complete service calls efficiently.
  • Organized record-keeping for service documentation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of ladders or tools (e.g., handling parts, stooping, kneeling, crouching).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Extended periods of standing (6+ hours per day).
  • Exposure to varying noise levels, including elevated noise in some environments.
  • Driving a vehicle for up to 60% of work hours.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work schedules and shifts.
