About the Role

The Legal Division is recruiting for one permanent full-time Legal Support Supervisor I position in the Legal Operations Branch (LOB), located in the Sacramento Headquarters office. This role reports to a Supervisor I in the Legal, Policy, and Program Services Unit (LPPSU), which provides policy, administrative, and legal clerical support to the Legal Division’s policy branches.

The Legal Support Supervisor I will provide direct supervision for up to six Legal Secretaries, planning, directing, and organizing the development, ongoing support, and training related to various administrative and legal clerical staff functions. These functions support the Children's and Community Care Licensing Policy & Litigation Branch (CAL), Family and Adult Programs Policy & Litigation Branch (FAB), and Information, Technology & Administrative Litigation (ITAL) Branch.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision for up to six Legal Secretaries.
  • Plan, direct, and organize the development, ongoing support, and training related to administrative and legal clerical staff functions.
  • Support the Children's and Community Care Licensing Policy & Litigation Branch (CAL), Family and Adult Programs Policy & Litigation Branch (FAB), and Information, Technology & Administrative Litigation (ITAL) Branch.

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment.
  • Must clear a Background Investigation prior to being hired.
  • Must type at least 40 words per minute (wpm) and have knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, and technical terms.
  • A current typing certificate (issued within the past four years) verifying a typing speed of a minimum of 40 wpm is required.
  • Must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) along with the application. The SOQ should be a narrative discussion of how the applicant’s education, training, experience, and skills meet the job description and duty statement.
  • Each SOQ question must be numbered, started on a separate page, and limited to one page per question using standard 1” margins and Arial 12-point font.
  • SOQ questions:
    • Describe your knowledge and experience working in a lead or leadership capacity.
    • Describe your experience using a variety of software and/or other tools to manage and organize the work of others.
    • Provide detailed examples of your ability to solve problems, promote thought, and develop new approaches to achieve a goal.
    • Describe your experience collaborating with staff to support stakeholders.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications stated in the Classification Specification. Required application materials include:

  • Completed State Employment Application Form (STD 678).
  • Statement of Qualifications (SOQ).
  • Employment history must be complete and accurate on the application form (STD 678). Resumes will not replace employment history.
  • If meeting minimum qualifications with education, unofficial transcripts must be included for verification. Official transcripts may be required if selected.

Pay

$5,196.00 - $6,510.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Schedule

Permanent, Full Time. Hybrid work location.
