Legal Support Clerk
Responsibilities
- Performs administrative duties such as preparing check requests, time entry, reimbursements requests, and other duties as assigned
- Affords assistance with the billing process using accounting software
- Carries out conflict checks, opens new client matters, and prepares engagement letters
- Maintains proofreading, editing, and revision of all documents as needed
- Electronically files documents into the firm’s document management system in a timely and organized manner, adhering to the firm's protocols, naming conventions, and folder structure
- Updates and maintains business development contacts
- Responds to numerous phone calls and emails in a professional manner
- Develops and maintains smooth working relationships with staff, attorneys, and clients
- Affords assistance with opening and closing of new files
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a legal support role is a plus
- Exhibits excellent proofing and editing skills
- Displays proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal software
- Demonstrates excellent time management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Shows strong written and verbal communication skills
- Displays strong attention to detail
- Shows a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to work well in a team
- Understands and strictly adheres to the firm's protocols, naming conventions, and folder structure
Pay
The pay range for this position is $24.00 to $26.00 per hour, depending on experience.
