Introduction
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Legal Secretary located in the Civil Process section.
Job Summary
- greet and direct citizens, law enforcement personnel, and attorneys in a courteous and professional manner;
- answer incoming calls and forward to appropriate interdepartmental staff or outside agencies;
- process, sort and assign court documents to deputies for service;
- enter into the software tracking system information from court documents;
- route all documents for return to appropriate courts and jurisdictions after they have been served and the dispositions have been entered into the software tracking system;
- prepare necessary correspondence;
- collect service fees;
- prepare deposits and remittances;
- reconcile monthly bank statements;
- general filing;
- ability to multitask and prioritize work in rapidly changing situations;
- position requires accurate and extensive data entry;
- work collaboratively with civilian and sworn personnel to meet departmental goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent;
- three (3) years of related clerical/administrative work experience with computer automated systems and office applications experience;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred but not required
- Experience in legal office setting (secretary/receptionist/court clerk/paralegal).
Job Contingencies and Special Requirements
- Selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, in-person interview(s), and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, credit check, driving record, and polygraph examination.
