About the role
Join the largest law firm in California as a Legal Secretary in the San Francisco Office of the Attorney General. This role offers professional legal career hands-on training as part of a legal support secretarial team, performing duties for multiple attorneys and professional staff.
Responsibilities
- Proficiently type, edit, store, retrieve, print, process, and electronically send legal documents and pleadings using department supported software including Word, Best Authority, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Prolaw, and other desktop technology tools and communication devices
- Format and file/e-file legal documents with State and Federal courts
- Produce case citations utilizing Best Authority software
- Ensure all documents are prepared, proofread, copied, and filed/served in accordance with legal requirements, court rules, and deadlines
- Comply with state and departmental rules and regulations and office policies and practices
- Compose letters and memoranda
- Maintain a calendar of document due dates and court appearances
- Prepare subpoenas
Pay
Legal Secretary: Range A $4,371.00 – $5,473.00; Range B $4,591.00 – $5,748.00. Senior Legal Typist (will consider): Range A $3,689.00 – $4,623.00; Range B $4,127.00 – $5,159.00.
Legal Secretaries and Senior Legal Typists in San Francisco qualify for Hire Above Minimum (HAM). Starting salary for Legal Secretary: Range A $5,060, Range B $5,317. Starting salary for Senior Legal Typist: Range A $4,315, Range B $4,818. Employees may be eligible for a recruitment and retention pay differential. New-to-State employees start at minimum salary of Range A unless Alternate Range Criteria are met.
Schedule
Full-time, permanent. Work shift 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. Hybrid telework available.
