Our client, a San Francisco-based software organization, is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Product Operations Specialist to support its Legal & Compliance Operations team on an initial four-month contract assignment focused on a high-priority initiative involving global policy research, research validation, data configuration, and quality assurance within the company's internal platform. Following a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite/2 days remote), the specialist will research and validate country-specific policy information, investigate discrepancies, and translate confirmed findings into accurate product configurations. As proficiency develops, the specialist will take increasing ownership of assigned research and configuration workflows. This opportunity is well suited for someone who enjoys structured research and detailed operational work, is comfortable working through complex or unclear information, and can accurately translate research findings into product configurations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Conduct research into country-specific policies and requirements and validate existing research, source materials, and documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Compare findings against previously completed research, investigate discrepancies or incomplete information, and identify areas requiring additional research or clarification.
  • Translate validated policy information into accurate calendar, policy, rule, and other predefined configurations within the company's internal product.
  • Complete work through established research, configuration, and quality-control checkpoints, incorporating team feedback and maintaining accurate documentation of sources, findings, decisions, and outstanding issues.
  • Escalate unclear or conflicting information to appropriate subject matter experts, including creating Jira tickets when clarification or correction is required, tracking updates, and incorporating resulting information into the product.
  • Learn established research and configuration standards by initially working with previously researched and quality-checked countries before progressing to countries requiring new research.
  • Independently manage assigned countries, tasks, and project milestones, taking increasing ownership of research and configuration workflows as proficiency develops.
  • Collaborate with team members and subject matter experts to resolve discrepancies and support additional research, quality assurance, and operational projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in product operations, compliance operations, legal operations, policy or regulatory research, data operations, implementation, or another detail-oriented, research- and process-driven environment.
  • Experience conducting detailed research, reviewing multiple sources, identifying inconsistencies, and accurately documenting findings.
  • Experience working with structured data and translating research or source information into defined fields, systems, workflows, or configurations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently apply established research, documentation, configuration, and quality-control standards.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to independently manage assigned work and project milestones.
  • Naturally curious and comfortable conducting additional research, asking questions, and escalating issues when information or requirements are unclear.
  • Comfortable learning new processes, receiving feedback through quality-control reviews, and incorporating that feedback into subsequent work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, web-based research tools, and other business software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting policy, regulatory, compliance, legal, or jurisdiction-specific research, including research across multiple countries or jurisdictions.
  • Experience supporting SaaS products, compliance programs, legal teams, HR operations, or similar environments where research findings inform system or product configuration.
  • Experience with data configuration, implementation, workflow management, quality assurance, or system administration.
  • Experience documenting research sources, findings, and decisions for subsequent review.
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar ticketing/workflow-management systems.
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced technology environment while independently owning defined areas of work.

If you enjoy combining research, quality control, and hands-on product configuration, are comfortable working through detailed information and resolving discrepancies, and want the opportunity to take increasing ownership of a defined global workflow, we encourage you to apply.
