This fully remote leadership role offers the opportunity to shape the future of legal research services through innovation, technology, and knowledge management. You will lead a team of research professionals while delivering high-value insights that support attorneys, clients, and business stakeholders. The role combines legal research expertise, team leadership, client engagement, and strategic technology adoption.
Accountabilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of research professionals through coaching, performance management, training, and professional development initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and client-focused research culture centered on accuracy, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
- Manage client relationships and serve as a strategic partner for research and knowledge service needs.
- Oversee complex legal, regulatory, business, and competitive intelligence research projects to support attorneys and practice groups.
- Ensure research deliverables are accurate, timely, relevant, and aligned with client objectives and risk considerations.
- Promote best practices in legal research methodology, knowledge organization, information delivery, and knowledge sharing.
- Guide the adoption and optimization of digital research resources, platforms, and knowledge management solutions.
- Collaborate with technology, innovation, and business teams to improve research workflows and tool effectiveness.
- Evaluate and support the implementation of AI-powered legal research, analytics, and intelligence technologies.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders by anticipating research needs and delivering actionable insights.
- Lead research-focused projects, including workflow improvements, technology implementations, analytics initiatives, and service enhancements.
- Develop project plans, monitor progress, and communicate outcomes, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal research, competitive intelligence, knowledge services, or a related field within a law firm, professional services, or corporate environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing or leading a research team or function.
- Strong knowledge of legal research platforms such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, and related analytics tools.
- Demonstrated ability to transform complex research findings into clear, actionable insights for attorneys and business leaders.
- Experience managing research vendors, budgets, and data-driven decision-making processes.
- Familiarity with emerging legal technologies, generative AI, agentic AI, and their applications in legal research.
- Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a fully remote environment.
