About the role
Hatch is seeking a Legal Counsel with at least three years of U.S. legal experience to join our Corporate, Commercial & Legal Services (U.S.) team. This role supports Hatch’s engineering, infrastructure, energy, and technology projects across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Assist senior counsel in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements, including professional services agreements, NDAs, and subcontracts.
- Conduct legal research on U.S. federal, state, and local regulations relevant to capital projects and engineering services.
- Prepare issue summaries, risk assessments, and recommended revisions for project teams.
- Support contract lifecycle activities, including use and development of templates, approval workflows, and document management.
- Absorb and assist with internal investigations, claim reviews, and fact development for dispute matters under attorney supervision.
- Collaborate with corporate functions (procurement, HR, finance, compliance) on legal questions and policy applications.
- Contribute to internal training materials on legal topics and risk mitigation.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by senior lawyers in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree from an accredited law school.
- Licenses to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Pennsylvania license or ability to obtain PA licensure preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years relevant experience with a major law firm and/or the in-house legal department of a major corporation.
- Strong interest in commercial contracting, project delivery, and infrastructure/energy work.
- Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong drafting precision.
- Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize competing deadlines, and work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Proactive attitude, strong professional judgment, and commitment to continuous learning.
