The Billing Coordinator is primarily responsible for all aspects of billing for various attorneys of Shumaker. They will provide support in client and matter management, review and edit drafts, post into internal and external software programs, and follow up on collection actions. Interactions with internal working teams and managing deadline-sensitive billing tasks will be an important part of this role, along with creating and updating numerous documents for reporting purposes. Where You'll WorkThe Billing Coordinator is an hourly non-exempt position and will work hybrid from one of the following offices: Tampa, Florida; Charlotte, North Carolina; Toledo, Ohio; or Columbus, Ohio. What You'll DoDocuments and understands client-billing engagementsReviews and edits all draft invoices prior to attorney reviewEdits and processes final invoices using 3E billing softwareDistributes final invoices upon completion of revisions electronically or by mailUtilizes third party electronic billing vendor websites for submission of electronic invoicesSubmits new timekeepers/rates to various e-billing vendor sitesWorks closely with attorneys and assistants to obtain accrual information and submits by monthly deadlineFollows up on electronic billing status updates and required actions (appeals, amendments, write offs, etc.)Follows up on collection actions for responsible attorneysEnsures adherence to third-party billing guidelines and insurance requirementsPerforms monthly reconciliation and analysis of client trust accounts, ensuring accuracy, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and timely resolution of discrepancies What We’re Looking ForAt least 5+ years of legal billing experienceMinimum of an associate’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field or equivalent billing experience preferredWorking experience in accounting systems such as Elite 3E, BillSmart, or equivalent preferredA strong background with widely used billing platforms such as Legal Tracker, Tymetrix, Collaborati, and Counsel Link, including but not limited to Electronic Billing Hub (EBH)Strong verbal and written communication skillsAble to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently while maintaining organization with a strong attention to detailStrong analytical, math and problem-solving skillsHigh level of understanding of MS Outlook, Word, and Excel Who We AreWe’re not just another law firm - we’re something different.
