Legal Billing Coordinator
About the role
The Billing Coordinator compiles, manages, and executes complex attorney billing across all three law departments. In this client-facing role, the ideal candidate will prioritize to meet tight deadlines, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and multitask to process high-volume billing. The Coordinator communicates effectively with attorneys, assistants, and accounting colleagues while accurately maintaining records throughout the entire billing cycle.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and processes billing for principal billing partners, including drafting, editing, and preparing pre-bills and final bills per attorney/client specifications and guidelines (edits may include narratives, transfers, write-downs, write-offs, divides, and combines).
- Reviews and verifies accuracy of billing and cost backup documentation, as required.
- Confirms rates and fee arrangements (e.g., flat fee, fixed fee, billed on account (BOA), on-demand fees) are reflected for each individual matter.
- Generates and delivers client invoices in the requested format.
- Manages requirements for clients who use e-billing to ensure timely completion and coordinates with the e-billing department as needed.
- Researches and responds to inquiries regarding billing issues and problems.
- Monitors Work in Process (WIP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) inventory for assigned attorneys.
- Generates billing statements and production reports as requested.
- Ensures strict confidentiality at all times.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience billing at an hourly rate for a timekeeper in a law or professional services firm.
- Experience with 3E preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
Pay
The salary range for this position is:
- Orlando: $58,100 to $81,300
- Chicago, Dallas, & Houston: $63,900 to $89,400
The actual offered amount will be between the range minimum and midpoint based on education, experience, geographic market, and internal pay equity at Foley.
