Legal Assistant
About the role
As a legal assistant on our team, you’ll handle tasks critical to the success of our law offices. You’ll provide administrative support to our attorneys through preparation of legal documents and correspondences, such as motions and pleadings. Using an electronic case management system, you’ll manage attorney calendars, coordinate examinations for defense experts, and communicate with clients. Additional duties include maintaining files, answering phone calls, propounding discovery (including serving client discovery), and other administrative tasks. This is a hybrid position with occasional travel to an office for meetings and/or training. Candidates must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the office they support.
Responsibilities
- Prepare legal documents and correspondences, such as motions and pleadings
- Manage attorney calendars using an electronic case management system
- Coordinate examinations for defense experts
- Communicate with clients
- Maintain files and answer phone calls
- Propound discovery, including serving client discovery
- Perform other administrative duties as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED equivalent or higher
- Minimum of 1-year legal work experience in a business or legal environment supporting a professional team
- Must reside within a reasonable driving distance of the office you support
Preferred Skills
- Insurance defense or personal injury experience working in a law firm
- Strong time management and organizational skills to support a large group of professionals
- Proficient typing skills with attention to grammar and accuracy
- Ability to work independently while maintaining highly confidential information
- Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills
Pay
$26.78 - $29.44/hour depending on experience and geographical location
Gainshare annual cash incentive payment up to 16% of your eligible earnings based on company performance
