Legal Analyst

About the role

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a proactive, detail-oriented legal analyst to join its Legal & Compliance team. This individual will collaborate closely with attorneys, contributing to the firm's contracting processes and the development of privacy policies and procedures that support the firm's dynamic operations. The role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous, and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare various contract templates and process documents
• Review and comment on counterparty terms
• Revise and maintain privacy policies and notices
• Assist with implementing new privacy laws across the firm
• Conduct data privacy impact assessments
• Support ongoing contract management and privacy compliance

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree, along with a demonstrated record of professional and/or academic achievement
• At least one to three years of work experience
• An interest in learning more about privacy, legal, and commercial risks
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
• Proven editing, proofreading, and project management skills
• Keen attention to detail

Qualifications

Familiarity with, or an interest in, contracts and/or privacy principles and processes is beneficial; formal legal or privacy experience is not required.

Pay

The expected annual base salary for this position is $110,000 to $130,000.
