About the role

The Legacy Scholars Success Coach position is a grant-funded, full-time role with a potential extension through June 2027. Reporting to the Director of Admissions, this position works with Legacy Scholars-eligible students from enrollment to graduation, assisting them in navigating the enrollment process and providing support.

Responsibilities

  • Create and facilitate special programming to build community and connections with Legacy Scholar students.
  • Use Starfish Student Success Tracking System to monitor student status and implement appropriate interventions to increase retention and graduation rates of Legacy Scholars.
  • Provide individual opportunities to interact and create a point of contact for this population of students.
  • Coordinate and attend on- and off-campus events to promote the Legacy Scholars program.
  • Work with partnering schools to provide targeted outreach opportunities.
  • Absorb and assist Legacy Scholar students with the enrollment process, including FAFSA completion.
  • Award, manage, and monitor scholarship eligibility for the Legacy Scholars.
  • Aid students in understanding college financial aid, including the Legacy Scholars scholarship and FAFSA process.
  • Prepare reports to external and internal stakeholders on specific data elements compared to all KCC students.
  • Maintain up-to-date student demographic enrollment data.

Requirements

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, one year of related experience, and knowledge of K-12 and/or higher education systems. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are also required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other similar software.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a master's degree or equivalent, working knowledge of FERPA, and experience with student recruitment strategies and/or retention programs.

Skills

Knowledge of KCC institutional processes, programs, and practices, and familiarity with Battle Creek Public Schools and Lakeview school districts are beneficial.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary according to the Kellogg Community College Hay Administrative Compensation program, ranging from $50,776 to $59,734 annually. The position also includes benefits consistent with the college’s standard employee benefits package.

Pay

The proposed salary range for a Professional 1 position is $50,776 to $59,734 to start.

Schedule

The position is scheduled between 9:00am and 6:00pm, Mondays through Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:00am to 5:00pm with evening and weekend hours as needed by the department. Regular on-campus presence is expected for all KCC employees.
