About the role

The Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Software Engineering position is based in Australia. This role involves contributing to the advancement of research and education in modern computing systems, shaping the next generation of computing professionals, and conducting research in areas such as AI for Software Engineering, Software Engineering for AI, AI Application Engineering, Software Development Lifecycle, and Software Architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to high-quality research outcomes and scholarly publications.
  • Deliver engaging and innovative learning experiences for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Collaborate on competitive grant applications and collaborative research initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver courses and programs at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Implement educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Requirements

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development, and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence.
  • Experience with industry or work-integrated learning (desirable).
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development, and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
  • Experience in successfully recruiting and supervising high calibre students.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines, and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

Benefits

The position offers a competitive salary range for Lecturer (Level B) – AUD $127,947 to $150,830 per annum + 17% superannuation and Senior Lecturer (Level C) – AUD $155,403 to $178,290 per annum + 17% superannuation, along with a two-year convertible tenure track or continuing appointment.
