California State University San Marcos invites applications on an ongoing basis for part-time lecturers to teach Introductory Linguistics courses in the Department of Linguistics and Liberal Studies for the 2026/2027 academic year. Appointments may range from one day to a full semester and are filled on an as-needed basis. Applications are valid only for the current academic year and the pool closes May 31st.
Responsibilities
- Teach Introductory Linguistics courses as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Linguistics or a related field.
- Experience teaching higher education courses in linguistics.
- Employment is contingent upon working in the State of California, as per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy.
Qualifications
- A doctorate in Linguistics or a related field (preferred).
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community through teaching and, where applicable, service.
Pay
Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 – $8,000 per full-time month. Salary is determined by degree level, experience, and placement on the CSU Lecturer salary schedule:
- Lecturer A – AY: $5,507 – $6,677 per full-time month.
- Lecturer B – AY: $6,221 – $13,224 per full-time month.
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
