Lecturer Pool - Liberal Studies AY 2026/27
California State University San Marcos invites applications on an ongoing basis for part-time lecturer positions in the Department of Linguistics and Liberal Studies. This pool is for teaching upper and lower division Liberal Studies courses in “Critical Education.” Appointments may range from one day to a full semester and are used to fill short-term temporary vacancies as needed throughout the academic year. Applications are valid only for the 2026/27 academic year and the pool will close on May 31st.
About the Role
Lecturers in this pool may be hired to teach courses on an as-needed basis. Positions are temporary and part-time, with the possibility of rehiring.
Requirements
- A master’s degree in a related field.
- Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, employment is contingent upon working in the State of California.
Qualifications
- A doctorate in a closely related field (preferred).
- Higher education experience teaching Liberal Studies courses (preferred).
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service (preferred).
Pay
Salary is commensurate with degree level and experience. The anticipated hiring range is $5,507 - $8,000 per full-time month, generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range.

- Lecturer B (AY): $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month
