About the Role

The Department of Mathematics at Cal State, East Bay, is seeking one or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026, and/or Spring Semester 2027. We are dedicated to creating equitable, inclusive, anti-racist spaces for students to grow, learn, and flourish as mathematical thinkers.

Duties of the Position

  • Provide high-quality active learning experiences in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Use departmental materials and adhere to coordinated elements in lower division courses, while allowing for individual instructional approaches.
  • Effectively utilize "embedded peer support" in courses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues.
  • Teach courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or other relevant field based on courses available.

Rank and Salary

Lecturer. Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience, with the following ranges:

  • Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677
  • Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
  • Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
  • Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Date of Appointment

Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.

Conditions of Employment

  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Satisfactory completion of a background check, including criminal records check, verification of academic credentials, and employment verification.
