Lecturer Pool - Department of Computer Science AY 26-27
One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026 and/or Spring Semester 2027.
About the Department
The Department of Computer Science has 12 full-time faculty members with a wide range of backgrounds and interests. The faculty is committed to teaching undergraduate and Master’s level students. In a typical semester, the Department offers over 30 undergraduate and about 20 graduate classes, available both day and evening, online and in-person. Classes are generally small, providing many opportunities for faculty-student contact. The Department offers a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.S. in Computer Science, with more than 800 undergraduate majors and over 200 students in the M.S. program.
Responsibilities
- Teach lower-division computer programming and advanced topics in Computer Science.
- Teaching assignments may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online.
The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.
Pay
Salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. The salary schedule for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is as follows:
- Lecturer AY (Range 2): $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer AY (Range 3): $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer AY (Range 4): $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer AY (Range 5): $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Position appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.
Schedule
- Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026.
- Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.
Requirements
- Possess a graduate (master's) degree in Computer Science.
- Have teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
