Lecturer Pool - Biological Sciences (Biology) - AY 2026/27

About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an ongoing basis for its pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across the campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool are only good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Biological Sciences
• Develop and maintain course materials
• Assess student learning outcomes
• Participate in departmental meetings and committees
• Contribute to the development of new courses

Requirements

• An associate's or related degree in Biological Sciences
• Demonstrable professional experience in the subject matter of the class
• One semester of college level teaching experience preferred
• Preference given to applicants demonstrating intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences
• Five or more years of professional experience in the field

Skills

• Effective communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Experience with educational technology

Benefits

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience. Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,008 per full-time month.

Pay

The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
