Department of Biology Lecturer Pool 2026-2027
About the Role
San Diego State University’s Department of Biology is accepting applications for its part-time lecturer pool. Temporary appointments may be full- or part-time and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, requiring availability on very short notice.
Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, renewable contingent on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work. Applications remain active in the pool for the academic year in which they are submitted.
Teaching opportunities are available during the Fall term (mid-August to late-December), Spring term (mid-January to mid-May), and potentially Summer Sessions.

Pay
Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 – $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 – $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 – $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 – $15,211
Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.
