Position Details

The Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach PH 303 - Social, Behavioral, and Community Health.

Course Description

The course introduces current issues in health from a social science and behavioral perspective. It defines and explores health determinants using an ecological approach, and identifies multilevel influences, risk factors, and health prevention/promotion strategies. PH 303 provides a foundational understanding of public health concepts, tools, approaches and a critical examination of health and disease within populations.

Qualifications

  • A Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) is required.
  • Experience working with college-level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field (e.g. PhD, MD, DrPH, ScD, JD, etc.).
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.

Salary and Benefits

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience. Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $6,000 per full-time month.
