Lecturer position for PH 101: Introduction to Public Health, Fall 2026 semester. Class meets in-person Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. within the College of Education, Health, and Human Services, Department of Public Health.

About the role

This course serves as an introduction to public health and related disciplines (core knowledge areas), including Health Services, Epidemiology, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Environmental Health, and Biostatistics. The curriculum covers the history and growth of public health from medicine, health ethics, and future public health concerns. It also presents the core tenets of social and behavioral science, as well as an introduction to advocacy, diversity, culture, leadership, and public health biology.

Qualifications

  • Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH)
  • Relevant experience working with college-level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus
  • Employment is contingent upon working in the State of California

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Public Health or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service

Pay

Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 - $6,000 per full-time month. The full salary schedule for the Lecturer – Academic Year classification ranges from $5,507 to $6,677 per full-time month, with hiring generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
