About the role

We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle to join our Motor Vehicle department at The Bedford College Group.

As a Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:

  • Deliver Motor Vehicle Training – Teach and assess light vehicle maintenance and repair across various courses and qualification levels.
  • Support Student Success – Guide learners through tutorials, monitor progress, and provide high-quality learning experiences tailored to individual needs.
  • Develop Curriculum & Resources – Create schemes of work, implement innovative teaching materials, and contribute to new course development.
  • Ensure Compliance & Quality – Maintain accurate records, meet awarding body standards, uphold safeguarding, EDI, health & safety, and participate in IQA processes.
  • Engage in Promotion & Professional Growth – Take part in marketing activities, student recruitment, and proactively pursue training and development opportunities.

About you

  • Qualifications Required – Level 3 relevant qualification, GCSE English & Maths (or willingness to achieve), and commitment to gaining teaching and assessor/verifier credentials.
  • Teaching & Industry Expertise – Recent experience delivering and assessing motor vehicle programmes, strong subject knowledge, and ability to apply current industry developments.
  • Commitment to Equality & Safeguarding – Understanding of EDI principles, safeguarding responsibilities, and ability to maintain professional boundaries with learners.
  • Skills & Attributes – Excellent organisation, interpersonal and influencing skills, ability to work to deadlines, and create a welcoming, supportive environment for students.
  • Professional Values & Flexibility – Alignment with College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty), willingness to update skills, work across sites, and engage in continuous development.

Requirements

Qualifications Required – Level 3 relevant qualification, GCSE English & Maths (or willingness to achieve), and commitment to gaining teaching and assessor/verifier credentials.

Recent experience delivering and assessing motor vehicle programmes, strong subject knowledge, and ability to apply current industry developments.

Understanding of EDI principles, safeguarding responsibilities, and ability to maintain professional boundaries with learners.

Excellent organisation, interpersonal and influencing skills, ability to work to deadlines, and create a welcoming, supportive environment for students.

Alignment with College values (Student Focus, High Performance, Respect, Openness, Honesty), willingness to update skills, work across sites, and engage in continuous development.
