About the role

The University of Virginia's Office of Summer and Special Academic Programs seeks lecturers to teach January Term (J-Term) courses in winter 2027. J-Term is a university‑wide initiative offering undergraduate‑level, two‑week intensive courses in January designed to foster close faculty‑student engagement and provide an immersive learning experience on a specific subject, theme, or field of study.

Requirements

• Doctorate in the teaching discipline, or
• Master’s degree in the teaching discipline, or
• Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline.

Benefits

This is a part‑time, tenure‑ineligible position that does not carry benefits.

Schedule

Courses are offered during the two‑week January Term period; the appointment is part‑time.
