Lecturer in Sport Leadership

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in sport leadership and management, delivering engaging and effective classroom experiences. This is a non-tenure-eligible Lecturer Title Series position with a typical teaching load of 4/4 (24 credit hours per year) over the fall and spring semesters. The faculty member will also provide service to the university and contribute to the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion and the Future of Sport Institute (FoSI), which aims to reimagine the future of sport through innovation and cross-sector collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Teach across the existing Sport Leadership/Management curriculum, including high-demand required courses and rotating core offerings based on expertise.
• Sample courses include:
  • KHP 277 – Career and Professional Development in Sport (3 credits)
  • KHP 320 – Legal and Policy Issues in Sport (3 credits)
  • KHP 321 – Revenue Generation in Sport (3 credits)
  • KHP 475 – Leading Ethical Sport Organizations (3 credits)
  • KHP 476 – Research and Insights for Sport Organizations (3 credits)
  • KHP 477 – Practicum in Sport Leadership and Management (3-6 variable credits)
• Mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Provide service to the university and the field of sport leadership.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate (Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent) in Sport Leadership, Sport Management, Sport Administration, or a closely related field by the start date in August 2027.
• Track record of (or demonstrated capability for) delivering engaging and effective classroom experiences.
• Proven record of teaching and mentoring students at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels in sport leadership or management.
• Demonstrated effectiveness in course design and delivery, strong student evaluations, and incorporation of industry-relevant practices or case studies.
