About the role
The School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications at UNSW seeks a Lecturer (Level B) to strengthen capabilities in power systems, high‑voltage systems, system modelling, simulation and control, while supporting interdisciplinary research across telecommunications, control systems, signal processing and microelectronic systems. The role involves delivering high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Electrical Engineering programs, supervising Honours and postgraduate project students, contributing to course administration and academic quality assurance, undertaking research that advances electrical energy systems and power engineering, engaging with industry, government and interdisciplinary collaborators, and contributing to innovation, knowledge exchange and the development of the next generation of engineers and researchers. The position is based at the Kensington campus in Sydney, Australia.
That covers location.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate Electrical Engineering programs.
- Supervise Honours and postgraduate project students.
- Contribute to course administration and academic quality assurance.
- Undertake research that advances electrical energy systems and power engineering.
- Engage with industry, government and interdisciplinary collaborators.
- Contribute to innovation, knowledge exchange and the development of the next generation of engineers and researchers.
- Support students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Build effective relationships across disciplines and engage with industry and professional networks.
Requirements
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, with relevant work experience.
- Proven commitment to staying current with discipline knowledge and developments.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and/or delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels in power systems or electrical energy engineering, and across the broader Electrical Engineering field.
- Demonstrated track record of high‑quality, high‑impact research in power systems.
- Evidence of research excellence and capacity for research leadership.
- Experience using and/or designing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g., curriculum design and development at various levels and scales).
- Knowledge of industry or experience of work‑integrated learning (desirable).
- Ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and to advance equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
- Track record of significant involvement with the profession and/or industry.
- High‑level communication skills and ability to network effectively with a diverse range of students and staff.

- Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
We could also have Qualifications separate but maybe redundant. The instructions: Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones. Could combine Requirements and Qualifications into one? But they ask to use headings for Qualifications if there is real specific content. We have qualifications: PhD, relevant work experience. That's already in Requirements. Could still have Qualifications heading with those items. But to avoid thin sections, maybe combine them into Requirements and skip Qualifications. However they said "include a section ONLY when the posting has real, specific content for it". If we put qualifications inside Requirements, we still have a Qualifications section empty -> not allowed. So we should either have Qualifications section with content, or omit it. Since we already have PhD etc in Requirements, we could still have Qualifications with those items, but then Requirements would be thin. Better to have Qualifications separate and keep Requirements focused on duties? Actually Responsibilities already covers duties. Requirements could be about skills/experience. Qualifications could be about formal credentials (PhD, work experience). Let's do that.
Thus:
Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Relevant work experience in the field.
Requirements
... (the rest of the detailed requirements)
But then Requirements may be long but okay.
Skills: maybe we can extract communication, teamwork, interpersonal, organisational, networking, educational technologies, etc. But many are already in Requirements. Could create Skills section for abilities like communication, teamwork, interpersonal, organisational, networking, educational technologies. However to avoid duplication, we could keep Skills separate but ensure not repeating same bullet points. Might be okay to have some overlap but instructions: Preserve ALL substantive information; do NOT invent or summarize away detail. Duplication is okay as long as we preserve info. But better to avoid redundancy? Not strictly prohibited. However they said "Prefer a few substantive sections over many thin ones." So maybe we can combine Skills into Requirements or Qualifications. But they ask to use headings for Skills if there is real specific content. We have specific content: "High level communication skills and ability to network effectively and interact with a diverse range of students and staff." "Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships." "Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills." "Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods." Those are skills. Could put them in Skills section.
Thus we could have:
Skills
- High level communication skills and ability to network effectively with a diverse range of students and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
- Highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Experience using and/or designing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
Then Requirements could focus on research, teaching experience, etc. But we already have teaching experience in Requirements. Might be okay.
Benefits: superannuation 17%, 26 weeks fully paid maternity or primary carers leave, workplace adjustments, flexible work options (including working from home), supportive environment for ECAs, etc.
Pay: Salary range.
Schedule: Full-time.
Let's craft sections:
About the role (as above)
Responsibilities (as above)
Qualifications (PhD, relevant work experience)
Requirements (teaching experience, research track record, etc.)
Skills (communication, teamwork, interpersonal/organisational, ed tech)
Benefits (superannuation, maternity leave, workplace adjustments, flexible work, ECA support)
Pay (salary range + superannuation)
Schedule (full-time)
We must ensure we don't create sections with filler like "not specified". All have content.
Now produce HTML.
Check for any boilerplate removed: we removed EEO, legal, application instructions, contact details, closing date, etc. Also removed "Additional details about the specific responsibilities for this position can be found in the position description." etc. Also removed "For further information about our School, please visit - https://...". Also removed "As part of our recruitment process candidates may be required to undergo pre-employment screening..." etc. Also removed "UNSW is committed to evolving a culture..." etc. Also removed "
