About the role

The College of Education at California State University San Marcos invites applications for instructors to teach HHS: Introduction to Health and Wellness Careers, a 3-unit course offered at Rancho Buena Vista High School (Vista, CA). This is a dual enrolled course offered to high school students for college credit.

Responsibilities

- Provide an overview of various allied health and wellness professions within the U.S. health system. - Explore the roles, educational requirements, and pathways to specific health and wellness careers. - Expose students to current health care services, concepts, and the professional characteristics, behaviors, values, skills, and knowledge required for success in allied health and other health and wellness careers.

Requirements

- Minimum qualifications: A master’s degree in kinesiology, public health, human development and other health and wellness related career disciplines. - Per California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience teaching in higher education. - Experience working with high school students. - Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving a diverse campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service.

Benefits

- Salary commensurate with degree level and experience. - Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full-time month. - The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges: - CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month - CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month

Pay

- Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: Generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.

Schedule

- Days/Times: Tuesdays 2-3:30 pm and Fridays 11:50-12:50 pm. - Modality: In Person. - College: College of Education, Health and Human Services. - Department: Human Development.
